Tom has advised clients on a wide range of transactions, from project finance and management, corporate law, derivatives, compliance and risk, and management of high-profile litigation. Tom has also advised on a wide range of environmental energy-based projects with a focus on clean tech and green-smart technologies.

Tom is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Alberta. He holds a law degree (J.D.), call to Alberta bar 1993, an undergraduate science degree in geology and economics, and holds a certification from Indigenous Canada. 


Community Involvement and Interests

Tom resides in Calgary, Alberta and is active in the community, sitting on boards for not-for-profit organizations, coaches’ hockey at the Junior level, with Hockey Canada coaching high performance hockey development camps provincially, and with the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Calgary. Tom is also a certified outdoor alpine instructor and is active in mountaineering participating in alpine and ice climbs in the Canadian Cordillera, Alaska, and Karakoram.  A former commissioned officer of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and outdoor specialist for specific army units and as a former pilot was called upon by CAF and oversaw the successful delivery of an air cadet Power Pilot Training Course for summer 2022. Tom was recently awarded the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal for his leadership contributions to the community and military.
